A popular category here at Prestige Car Audio & Marine is remote car starters. And a question that often comes up is “Why should I choose Prestige for my remote starter installation?” You see, we are rarely the lowest-priced store in town. In fact, when it comes to remote starters, we are often more expensive than our competitors. Did we really just put that statement into print? Yep. Now, please humor us a little so we can explain.
Prestige Is Different
Prestige Car Audio & Marine is a different kind of retailer. We believe in installing better products, and doing a quality installation that will give you years of trouble-free service.
Better Products Yield Higher Reliability
Let’s start with the products. Nowadays, you can buy a remote starter online for around $20. The real question is, would you ever want to have something so cheap installed in your vehicle? Well, how do you think the other shops that are promoting such low prices do it? They start by spending less on the products they install. And that extends to all of their installation parts. Anywhere a dollar can be saved is done in the name of a lower price. But when this product fails, and possibly leaves you stranded on the side of the road, the initial savings is long gone. Our buyers select only the best-value, longest-lasting products for our clients – and we try them out in our own vehicles first, so we know they will perform as advertised.
We Employ The Highest Remote Starter Installation Standards
And then comes the installation. It is our belief that, once you see one of our installations, you will never want your vehicle worked on anywhere else. Most shops take a factory, high-volume approach to doing an installation. If they are open 50 hours a week and can save 30 minutes on an installation by cutting a few corners here and there, it allows them to make it up in volume. That is not the Prestige Car Audio & Marine way of doing an install.
Here is an example of how we do it:
- We start by prewiring the remote starter system on our work bench. We figure out in advance where all the wires are going to get terminated in the vehicle. At that point, we create mini wiring harnesses in groups that are neatly taped with Tesa tape, the same stuff Mercedes and BMW use in their vehicles. We would like to note that we never use T-taps, an inexpensive and time-saving crimp-style connector. We don’t even allow them in our install bay. People use them because they are quick and easy, but we don’t use them because they break.
- Next, we take the pre-harnessed system and install it neatly in your vehicle, hiding the brain and zip-tying all of the wiring. This allows a technician to easily access other areas of your vehicle for servicing. You will never see balled-up wiring tucked up in your dash around here.
- All of our connections are terminated in either military slices or solder, for the ultimate in reliability.
We invite you to stop by Prestige Car Audio & Marine here in Metairie and get to know us better. Once you do that, we think you will have found a new shop.
