Radar Detector for Metairie Ram 3500 Pickup Truck

A client from here in Metairie recently dropped into Prestige Car Audio and Marine to discuss his options for adding a radar detector and remote starter to his 2018 Ram 3500. As long as we were working on the vehicle, the client also wanted us to install a few accessories he had purchased. We headed outside to inspect the vehicle, then asked the client a few questions about where he usually parked the vehicle when at home and work. With a thorough understanding of his expectations for the upgrades, we put together a detailed quote to provide him with a solution that would meet his needs.

RL360i Radar Detector for Ram 3500

Four laser sensors were added to the front of the truck.

Our technicians carefully mounted the sensors for maximum performance.

A rear laser defuser tag frame was added to the rear of the truck.

The project started with the installation of a K40 RL360i Expert radar detector and laser defense system. The RL360i includes dedicated front and rear radar antennae and supports the Laser Defuser Optix and the G5 license plate frame. Because this truck is so large, we suggested using four of the Defuser Optix sensors on the front of the vehicle. Our team mounted two sensors in the middle of the front grille and another pair of sensors in the lower openings of the fabricated steel front bumper and bull bar that we installed for him. All of the sensors are aligned so that they are parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the centerline of the vehicle for optimal long-distance operation.

For a little added protection, we added a K40 LTS G5 license plate frame with an integrated laser transceiver to the back of the vehicle.

Compustar Remote Starter

Next on the list was the integration of a Compustar Pro T12 remote car starter system. The T12 remote control provides as much as 3 miles of range to ensure that the client can start his truck from inside larger buildings. To make sure he can monitor and control the vehicle when out of range, we added a DroneMobile smartphone interface to the starter. The client can use an app on his phone to control the door locks and start the vehicle from anywhere that he has cellular data access.

Window Tint and Truck Accessories

We installed window tint on the driver and passenger windows so that they would match the privacy glass on the rear windows of the truck. We finished by installing the rear bumper and sidesteps the client had provided. We called the client to let him know we had finished installing the radar detector, starter and truck accessories on his Ram 3500, and he could pick up the vehicle.
