A repeat client from Metairie, Louisiana, came to Prestige Car Audio & Marine, interested in getting a marine audio system for his 24’ Skeeter fishing boat. We spent significant time on getting to know the customer and his goals for the audio system. After looking over the boat and reviewing the information we gathered during our consultation, we worked up a solution for the customer. He liked our idea, and set an appointment time.
Top Priorities in This Marine Audio Build? Durability And Volume!
First thing first: This is a fishing boat. That means this boat gets used, not babied, so the equipment we used and the installation work performed had to handle the harsh conditions of life on the water. What made this build even more challenging is that he wanted it to jam. Really jam.
Aquatic And Fusion Provide The Source For The Musical Signals

The client has the ability to listen to almost any source: CD, DVD, USB, or stream any Bluetooth content.
We chose an Aquatic A/V AQDVD4B as the source unit for the boat. It is a waterproof unit designed from the ground up to be a marine audio unit, not a car stereo unit painted white. It comes with a CD/DVD drive and a USB port to play your digital music. We added a Fusion MSBT100 Bluetooth adapter to allow wireless streaming from any device. From there, the musical signal travels to two JL Audio marine amplifiers.
JL Audio Marine Amplifiers Provide Clean Power
The M800/8v2 amplifier is an eight-channel amp that we bridged into four channels, so it provides more than 200 watts of clean power to each of the four speakers. The second amplifier is another JL Audio model, the M600/1, which provides more than 600 watts to the dual subwoofers. That is a total of 1,400 watts of power! Saying this boat can crank may be an understatement.
8.8″ JL Audio Speakers With Lighting Accents
Once the consultants at Prestige Car Audio & Marine chose had the electronics, it was time to select the speakers. We chose two pairs of JL Audio M880-CCX-SG-WH 8.8” coaxial speakers. Long part number, right? The JL speakers are in a league of their own when it comes to bringing crystal-clear audio at high output levels for extended periods of time. One pair of these incredible speakers can run circles in output compared with two pairs of 6.5” speakers. What makes these speakers even greater is their ability to reproduce every last nuance in the music.
If you look closely at the speakers, you will notice the blue backlighting behind them. We handmade custom plexiglass rings to hold the blue LEDs, giving the speakers the effect of floating in blue light. To complement the lighting effect on the speakers, we added blue LED ambient lighting in other strategic areas of the boat.
JL Audio Subwoofer Adds Killer Bass
When it came time for bass, we went back to JL Audio again, choosing the M10IB5-SG-WH, which are 10” marine subwoofers. They provide a wonderfully detailed bass response that makes a kick drum and bass guitar come to life.
The Client Was Thrilled With His Floating Concert Hall!
When the customer came to pick up his boat, he was thrilled. We went over all of the details in the installation to show him all the little details we do here at Prestige Car Audio & Marine to ensure years of trouble-free use. When we cranked it up for the first time, the smile on the client’s face made it all worthwhile. This thing rocked, producing concert-level sound while giving studio-quality accuracy.
