Metairie Client Gets Radical Transformation With Ford F-150 Accessories

A client from Metairie, Louisiana, brought his 2016 Ford F-150 to Prestige Car Audio & Marine for some accessories. Along with our mobile electronics skills, we happen to love working on pickup trucks. This client wanted to transform the look of his new truck with a suspension lift kit and new wheels and tires. After looking through several different catalogs and websites, we came up with a plan to evolve the style and capabilities of his Platinum trim-level truck.

Suspension

The stock ride of this F-150 wasn’t nearly high enough for the client.

The Fox Factory shocks use an external reservoir for extreme use.

We chose a BDS Suspension 6-inch Coil-Over Suspension Lift Kit. This BDS kit includes new front steering knuckles, lower control arm mount relocation brackets and external reservoir coil-over front shocks. For the rear, the kit includes axle blocks, shocks and all the supporting hardware to install everything. While the 6-inch lift is dramatic, the kit did require some trimming of the front cross member, but for a lift this big, that’s quite minor.

The lift kit is engineered well and uses premium quality parts. The front shocks are Fox Factory Series 2.5 units and are tuned to work with the included Eibach springs for great control when on or off-road.

We installed the kit using the provided instructions. We painted all the cut steel to prevent corrosion, and we made sure every fastener was torqued to spec. To ensure the client would be safe, we checked everything again after a good test drive.

Tires And Wheels

The Fuel Cleaver rims had the aggressive look the client wanted.

The Nitto tires will make sure this truck stays stuck to the road no matter what the surface conditions.

BDS was kind enough to include a few wheel and tire size suggestions with the kit. The client chose the biggest, baddest, most epic size, of course! A set of 37×12.5R20 Nitto Trail Grappler tires serves to put the V8 power to the pavement. The Grappler tires offer a great balance of off-road and on-road performance. They aren’t noisy and have good tread life expectancy. When things get muddy, the staggered shoulder lugs help power through and on to the next obstacle.

The client chose a set of 20×9-inch Fuel D574 Cleaver Wheels. The gloss black finish and milled edges are a perfect accent to the black paint and silver accessories on the truck. The wheels have a 1 mm offset of 5-inch back-spacing. These wheels are very strong – each can support up to 2,500 pounds!
