A client from Metairie contacted Prestige Car Audio & Marine about several upgrades in his 2015 Mercedes Sprinter van. Our team scheduled a time for him to come by with the van so we could look it over with him. On the day of the consultation, we went out to the vehicle with the client and look it over in detail. We listened as he explained his goals for the upgrades, and we offered our own ideas along the way. When the consult was completed, we worked up a proposal that we felt best fit his needs. He liked our ideas, so we set a time for him to drop off the vehicle.
Flooring Upgrades
As we got to know the client, we realized that some of the changes were going to be cosmetic and some were going to be functional. We started by removing the ugly gray vinyl flooring and replacing it with black carpet. That alone improved the vehicle a lot, giving it a more inviting presence. The high-traffic passenger area was treated with a durable wood flooring. The wood floor gives this van a high-end home theater feel.
Cosmetic Upgrades
Next, we added LED lighting in strategic locations all over the inside of the vehicle, giving it a classy look while making it more functional. The vehicle came from the conversion facility with wood-grain accents that didn’t fit the theme of the interior, so we refinished them in black plexiglass, giving it a look of piano black lacquer. To protect the plexi from scratching, we covered all of the accents in Xpel paint protection film.
Audio Upgrades
As in typical Prestige fashion, you knew we had to upgrade the audio system. We started by replacing the stereo system in the dash with a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS in-dash touchscreen DVD player. The client gained Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming, along with SiriusXM satellite radio and USB control over his smartphone and any other portable music files. Our installers placed multiple sets of Focal AC165 speakers strategically to give a balanced sound throughout the van. We fabricated a custom enclosure to mount under the seat in the rear of the vehicle to house to JL Audio 10W1v3-4 subwoofer, giving the sound system incredible low-end bass response.
When it came time for amplifiers, we went back to JL Audio, choosing the XD600/6v2 amplifier to power the speakers and an XD600/1v2 amplifier to power the subwoofers. These two amps combined to give the system over 1,000 watts of clean power, so when the crew wants to party, the sound system is ready and able.
Satellite Television
We installed a Tracvision A9 satellite system so DirecTV can be watched on any TV in the vehicle, and set up separate Genie boxes for each TV so everyone can pick their favorite channels.
Storage and Holders
We built a storage container into the rear of the van to hold any extra liquor for long party nights, and made custom LED-lit acrylic holders for storing alcohol and mixers up front. To top it off, we added LED-lit acrylic drink holders, completing the theme of the vehicle while giving passengers a convenient place to hold their drinks.
Snack Drawers
When you go out for a night on the town, you are sure to get the munchies, so we fabricated drawers under the seats to store snacks and other essential items.
Client Loved His Sprinter Van Upgrades
When the client came to pick up the Sprinter, he was blown away by the transformation of the interior. As we showed him around, he marveled at the fit and finish, saying everything looked as though his van came from the factory equipped this way. When we cranked up the stereo for the first time, he knew he had made the right decision. This van would now be party central wherever it traveled.
If you own a vehicle and feel as if it was never equipped the right way for you, we invite you to contact us HERE at Prestige Car Audio & Marine in New Orleans. Our team will work with you to design and build the upgrades that you have always wanted, making the vehicle uniquely yours.
