A previous client brought his new 2017 Ford F-250 to Prestige Car Audio and Marine for a new audio system. He loved the truck, but the factory audio system was, at best, somewhat anemic. Knowing what he liked from the previous system we installed for him, we designed a system that would not only sound great but also match the cosmetics of the truck. Once the client accepted our proposal, we scheduled an appointment to begin work on this Ford F-250 audio upgrade.
Audiofrog Speakers and SoundSkins Sound Deadening
The client auditioned the Audiofrog GS series components on our display board. He was in love with them right away. After applying a complete layer of SoundSkins sound-deadening material to the door panel, we installed a GS60 woofer on an acrylic adapter plate. We installed a set of Fast Rings foam speaker baffles around the woofers to couple the output to the door panel. These rings also help reduce buzzing and vibration in the door.
We installed an Audiofrog GS10OE tweeter in the factory location in the A-pillar. The OE version of the tweeter does not include a grille or the amazing mounting hardware that comes with the retail version. We did not need any of that, so we were able to save the client a few dollars.
In the rear doors, we installed another treatment of SoundSkins damping and an Audiofrog GS62 6.5-inch coaxial speaker to fill in the sound of the system.
Mosconi Electronics

There was just enough room behind the seat to fit all of the electronics for this build.
We decided that each speaker in the system was going to have a dedicated amplifier channel, so we would be able to use a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to make very accurate adjustments to the system. We selected a Mosconi 6to8v8 processor for the system.
We used a PAC Amp Pro AP4FD21 interface to extract an audio signal from the factory system. The AP4FD21 interface allows us to use the factory head unit as the system source without having to undo the equalization and time alignment built into the factory amp.
For amplification, we called upon Mosconi AS series amplifiers. We assigned an AS100.4 to power the front woofers and tweeters, and an AS100.2 for the rear coaxial speakers. A pair of AS200.2 provides more than ample power for each pair of subwoofers.
We installed the amplifiers and processor on the back wall of the truck. The photo you see here only shows a single AS200.2 – we added the second amp a few weeks later.
Audiomobile Subwoofers Solution
The client wanted good, clean bass from the system that could get good and loud. We built an enclosure under the rear seat that would be home to four Audiomobile GTS2110 10-inch subs and wrapped the enclosure in black vinyl. This was stage one of the subwoofer system. A few weeks later, the client returned to have us build a custom shroud for the enclosure. We built a “box” that surrounded the subs and had an angled top. Then we designed a cover with a pair of perforated mesh grilles. We pressed the grilles in a die to give them a tapered edge against the painted accent rings.
We added a light-gray vinyl accent stripe down the center of the enclosure to match the accent on the front and rear seats.
K40 Radar Detector System
The client asked us to install a radar and laser detector system in the truck. We used a K40 RL360i system with five Optix Defusers. We mounted four Defusers in the front grille of the truck. Our technicians created a mounting adapter for each Defuser out of acrylic plastic. We painted the adapters with SEM Landau Black paint so they blend into the grille openings. We mounted the fifth Defuser near the license plate on the rear of the vehicle.
Ford F-250 Audio Project Delivery

The new bed cover not only protects the bed contents, but also enhances the look of the truck.
To wrap up the project, we tinted the windows with Llumar CTX20 Ceramic film and installed a Bak Industries Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover.
The client was ecstatic about how the system sounded. Best of all, it looked like it belonged in the truck.
