A client from here in Metairie, Louisiana, brought his 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago to Prestige Car Audio and Marine for an audio system upgrade. We had a look at the car and interviewed the client to find out what he liked about the existing system and what he wanted to upgrade. With a plan in place, we scheduled an appointment to start this Lamborghini Murcielago audio system upgrade.
New Wiring

We protected, and re-routed a new power wire from the battery to the amplifier.
We started by removing the exterior rocker panel and the old power wire that ran alongside the factory tubing. We protected the new wiring with expandable PVC tubing and secured it at regular intervals. We upgraded the wiring to 0 AWG for better power delivery to the amplifier the client chose.
New Speaker System and Amplifier
In keeping with the yellow color of the vehicle, the client chose a set of Focal ES165KX2 6.5-inch component speakers. We installed the speakers in the doors using the provided grilles. To power the speakers, we installed a Mosconi AS200.4 in the front storage compartment of the car. The clean rectangular shape of the amplifier made it easy to build a carpeted trim piece for the amp.
Source Unit and Signal Processor
The client wanted a great-sounding head unit, so we showed him the Sony RSX-GS9. This unit will play almost any digital media file format, including high-resolution DSD files. Sony provides a digital TOSLINK output on the rear of the unit. We connected the TOSLINK directly to a JL Audio TwK-88 Digital Signal Processor. The TwK-88 allows us to set crossovers, equalization and signal delay for each of amplifiers channels.
We installed the remote control for the TwK-88 system in the center console. We purchased a second console trim piece to acquire more of the chrome trim rings and mounted the remote in the center of the console using one of the rings. We wrapped the trim around the radio in carbon-fiber textured vinyl.
Subwoofer Solution

Our team built a custom enclosure to fit behind the rear of the passenger seat.
To round out the system’s speakers, we used a JL Audio 10W3v3 subwoofer to fill in the bottom end, installing it in a custom enclosure behind the passenger seat. We wrapped the enclosure in leather that matches the factory upholstery.
Lamborghini Murcielago Audio System Delivery
We used the JL Audio TuN software to set up the TwK 88 processor. Using an RTA, we set up the system to produce a lifelike soundstage.
The client returned to Prestige Car Audio and Marine to pick up his exotic and have a listen to the new system. He loved it! If your exotic, show car or daily driver needs an audio overhaul, drop by our shop or send us an e-mail by clicking here.
