Ferrari GTC4Lusso T Laser and Radar for Metairie Client

The owner of this stunning 2018 Ferrari GTC4Lusso T recently contacted the team at Prestige Car Audio and Marine in Metairie to inquire about a radar detector and laser defense solution. After talking to the client about where and how he drives this amazing 600-horsepower twin-turbo V8 coupe, we inspected the vehicle to evaluate options for component installations. Once we had a clear understanding of the client’s needs, we put together a quote for a radar and laser protection system that would suit his application.

Speed Trap Protection Solution

A single laser shifter was mounted in an integrated tag frame.

The dual laser shifters were mounted flanking the prancing horse.

Thanks to the great care our technicians take, the Ferrari was returned in perfect condition.

The radar receiver was mounted behind the front bumper cover.

We loved having this stunning exotic in our bays.

Our laser detector and laser defense system solution is based around a K40 RL360di. The RL360di includes dedicated front and rear radar antennae and a concealed control module with a radio frequency remote control. We upgraded the system with the K40 Dual LDO package to protect against police lidar guns.

The installation began with the removal of the front bumper cover so that our technicians could mount the radar receiver to the chassis of the vehicle. The high frequencies associated with X, K and Ka-band radar will pass through the plastic bumper cover. As such, the radar antenna can be completely concealed.

Next, the team set to work mounting the K40 Laser Defuser Optix transceivers in the front grille. The installation and alignment of these sensors are crucial to ensuring that the system offers long-range sensitivity and excellent signal transmission back to the police laser gun. The rear of the vehicle is protected by a K40 Laser Defuser g5 license plate frame transceiver.

Our technicians were careful to make sure the Ferrari leather was not damaged.

Inside the vehicle, our technicians mounted the control module for the system up under the dash and made the electrical connections to the antennae and sensors. Unlike many other radar defense solutions, the K40 doesn’t use a display to provide information to the driver. Instead, a pair of LEDs work with a speaker under the dash to provide warning information. We mounted the LEDs in the turn-signal blinker locations in the instrument cluster. They are easy to see yet completely concealed when not in use.

With the system installed and tested, it was time for the client to return to Prestige Car Audio and Marine to pick up his Ferrari. We showed the client how the equipment was installed and explained how to use the system.
