Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication
At Prestige Car Audio and Marine, we can add robust Bluetooth hands-free calling capabilities to any vehicle using Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) enabled kits. These are more robust than simple headsets that only place and end calls with a volume adjustment. They are fully integrated into the vehicle and, once paired, automatically recognize your phone. Most of our systems support full access to your phone’s contact list to enable easy ‘by name’ dialing and caller ID recognition for inbound calls. This is done using the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP). In addition, some of our solutions also respond to voice commands so that you can voice dial the phone without taking your eyes off the road.
Should you have a newer vehicle that did not offer the Bluetooth option whatsoever or lacks the option from the factory, we have factory-like integration solutions that will establish Bluetooth hands-free capabilities in your vehicle and use the factory in-dash unit and steering wheel buttons, just as the factory Bluetooth would. There is no higher level of integration.
We also offer stand-alone Bluetooth hands-free kits that come with their own display and control panel so that you can install a safe hands-free calling solution in any vehicle. These come in a range of options and display sizes ranging up to vivid color LCD screens that display your caller’s photo from your phone’s contact list when placing or receiving the call.
Bluetooth Streaming Audio
Bluetooth streaming audio support is called the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). This feature allows your Bluetooth-enabled portable device to ‘stream’ music wirelessly to your A2DP-enabled car stereo and plays the audio over the sound system. This feature is great for those who store their songs on their smartphone or tablet, but it’s also essential for accessing music and internet radio apps like Pandora, TuneIn, IHeartRadio, Slacker and others. The audio from the smartphone connects without wires to your car stereo and plays over the car speakers instead of through the device’s small built-in speaker (or ear buds). The A2DP profile supports two 20Hz-20kHz full range channels of music content, so your sound quality is incredible. Imagine taking the favorite songs on your portable device and playing them with you in the car wherever you are. With Bluetooth streaming audio, you can.
In most cases, the steering wheel controls function as pause/play, mute, and track up/down while in Bluetooth streaming audio mode. Some Bluetooth receivers may also display the artist/album/song title information on the screen. This is an added benefit that allows you to place the phone in a safe spot without ever having to pick it up to navigate the content because you use all the existing buttons already in the car. Again, Bluetooth is just as much about technology and convenience as it is about safe driving.
